Miss Bella Skye, One Month Old

Isabella, you are one month old already!

You are so sweet and precious. I still can’t believe you are our little girl. You have only been here for one month, but it feels like you have always been part of our family. Daddy and I love you more than you will ever know. You are growing too fast, and it makes me teary to think that in a few weeks you are not going to be a newborn anymore. So, I might as well record this stage.

At one month: You wear 0-3 month clothes. You grew out of your newborn cloth at around two weeks.

You wear size 1 diapers. But I think you will be graduating to a bigger size soon.
You LOVE to eat, despite a difficult start with breastfeeding. You couldn’t suck well enough to nurse when you were born. After a few visits to lactation specialists, your pediatrician, and an ENT specialist, we found out you had a posterior tongue-tie. At two weeks and 3 days, you had a simple procedure where the doctor cut the tie, and you soon became a breastfeeding pro. During the day you want to eat almost every hour, with a break or two for your long naps. You wake up every 3 hours to eat at night.

I am not sure how much you weigh right now. You were 8 lbs 10 oz at birth. At your two week appointment you had already gained a full pound, and weighed in at 9 lbs 10 oz. I am sure you are well over 10 lbs, and even have a little double chin to show for it.

You were born with a full head of beautiful red hair. You are going bald on top and styling a skullet at the moment. It is okay sis, big brother was the same way and look at his awesome hairdo now.

You sleep well at night (except for waking up to eat every three hours). It is harder for you to get good naps during the day. You fall asleep right away when being held or lying right next to me, however, as soon as a put on your crib or bassinet you wake right up. Having a loud older brother does not help either. You sleep better when you are tightly swaddled.

You have very little baby acne, and a plugged tear duct which is starting the clear.

You hate having a dirty diaper and will let us know if you need a change right away. You also don’t like baths, tummy time, or lying on your back when awake.

You love to cuddle and being held upright. You also love being carried around in a wrap. You would be attached to your mommy 24/7 if you could.

You just started giving us lots of little smiles and making the cutest coo sounds.

Your big brother is crazy about you! He wants to give you hugs and kisses all the time. He even lets you borrow Buzz to keep you company on car rides or when you are going to sleep. He can’t wait for you to grow up so you can play together.

Here are some pictures from this month:
